This is the dashboard of my Daddy's 1965 Chevrolet truck. This was the first new car that Daddy ever bought and the only truck that he ever owned. He drove this truck for more than 30 years. In fact, I learned how to drive sitting behind this very steering wheel. The truck is rusted now, and in true Southern tradition, it is permanently parked down in the pasture. This is theme #64 Controls.

Great picture and fantastic memories!
Bet you this brings back lots of memories for you and your family! Cool pic!
Great depiction of the theme! I love your story! You might have a very interesting book with all you will do this year!
The controls are on the wrong side (For an Aussie) but great memories as I remember not being able to sit down for most of 1956 when my cousin and I Played "Filler Up" with the hose into Dad's new Buick Tow Truck.
As I said Great (Though still painful) Memories
Wonderful shot and wonderful story, I'm a sucker for tradition ;)
Your photo is great and your story is wonderful!
Great story I could visualize it just sitting there after so many years of good use...great pic for the theme
You should try HDR with this shot. Although I like it as it is....
What a memory to capture. I think you really added to the rustic feel with the pp. Nice job.
What a beautiful and nostalgic story and wonderful photograph!
Fantastic! It looks so familiar, maybe we are all showing our age, but I learned to drive on the exact same model of truck. My father insisted if I learned to drive that I could drive anything. It was true too. Great shot and great memory.
I love this photo. You couldn't have chosen better processing for it. You can just imagine all the memories that can be found in there.
Clara, great photograph. It's amazing that he drove it for all those years. You must be thrilled to have it and all the memories that go along with it.
You didn't have to add much grunge around the edges here.
Thanks for your comment on my blog...I knew that some people with this blog software could put photos as a banner, but the theme I had chosen didn't have that feature. I kept looking until I found one...
Boy does this bring back memories! Great shot!
Greta interpretation of the theme and a good picture of the car. I love old cars in any kind of "unrestored" condition. I learned on a 65 scout pickup driving the back roads in Maine
Great theme and I'm learning that the best photos come with a story. Thanks for sharing!
Karen
I also learned how to drive while behind the wheel of my Dad's pickup truck. Your photo brought back memories. Thanks!
