25:365 Recessionary Economics

25:365 Recessionary Economics
This is one of the best "green" cookbooks that I have ever seen. It has lots of recipies that use simple, unprocessed food. It was published by Doris Janzen Longacre in 1975 and republished in 2000. I grew up on a farm in Alabama and my parents were visionaries way beyond their time when it came to eating locally. They advocated "local eating" and "100-mile diets" long before it became popular to do. We just about didn't eat it if we didn't raise it.
This is theme #253 Recessionary Economics.

Very nice photo. (Not so nice topic--it's gonna get worse before it gets better, but I have faith that it WILL get better! Sooner or later.)

Funny, at pot-luck after church today, in conversation with another lady, we were talking about what our parents did when we were young. We raised just about everything we consumed. About the only foods we purchased was coffee, tea, sugar, salt & pepper, flour - and maybe beans. We did grow our own black eyed peas. We also had our beef, pork, chicken, turkey, milk, butter, eggs, lard. Mama (and we girls) made our own breads. I like your composition here and your take on the theme.

Looks like your folks could have taught us all a lesson on surviving the recession! Excellent composition, Clara.
