76:365 Broken

76:365 Broken
Broken windows in the same abandoned school. At one time, I taught in one of these rooms. The big windows made it one of my favorite school rooms. I had a birdfeeder in a dogwood tree outside of the window, and my first graders and I would watch the seasons go by. The near-by cotton mill moved to South America, and most of those first-graders have grown-up and moved to other places to try and make a living. This is theme #36 Broken.

The sadness of this photograph reminds me of the ongoing stuggle in the world we live in. I try very hard to count my blessings and this is another reminder for me to do that.

Mary Lou, great perspective here - love the angle of the shot, I would say you nailed this one!

Clara, this shot is phenomenal! The DOF and leading lines combine to make it appear that the windows go to eternity. But it is indeed very sad to think of these communities withering away and dying...

You've got great memories from days gone by....maybe that's why it's distressing you so. Another poignant photo.
