I am always looking for new ways to play with photoshop. Every week on the Elements Village Forum, there is a Be Creative Challenge.

This week's tutorial was "Pseudo HDR" by Jeff Perry.

I enjoyed the tutorial and this is the result of my playing. This is Kymulga Covered Bridge in Childersburg, Alabama. There is a grist mill there also.

The magnolia trees in Mama's yard are full of memories for me. I used to climb these trees when I was a child and I would spend many hours on long, hot days perched on the branches daydreaming among the leathery leaves. Theme #182.

162:365 Nursery Rhyme
I have several Avon bottles that depict different nursery rhyme characters. My favorite is Little Miss Muffet. I read that a piece of black tile would make a great reflecting surface for photography. Large pieces of black tile were very expensive, so I purchased a piece of black stained glass at Hobby Lobby. Theme #204 Nursery Rhyme.

158:365 Trash or Treasure?
158:365 Trash or Treasure
This weekend was the 90 mile-long Old Dixie Highway Yard Sale that stretches from Ringgold to Marietta, Georgia. My husband and I took in a few of the sales. We spent a grand total of $5.25 and had a great time.
The Dixie Highway better known as U.S. Route 41 was built in the 1920’s to connect the northern states to Florida. It stretches from Canada to Miami, Florida. It was at one time a major tourist route and has been called the granddaddy of Interstate 75. Theme #336.

Inside the chapel at Paradise Gardens. Just a little over the top, but I love the long flowing angel. Good examples of outsider art.

Howard Finster’s art is powerful and more than a little strange and unsettling. It’s sort of like a cross between an old-time tent revival and a circus fun house. Fascinating. Theme #278.

155:365 Folk Art
155:365 Folk Art
In Summerville, Georgia, there is a place called Paradise Gardens. It was the home of Howard Finster, a famous folk artist. He started in 1960 to build an elaborate sculpture garden in and around his home. His sculptures are made of cast-off junk and trash. Mr. Finster was an evangelist preacher. He loved Jesus and he apparently had a fascination with Elvis and Coca-Cola . . . a true Southern gentleman. This picture is a close-up of a self portrait that is on the outside of the chapel in the gardens. Theme #104.

Millennium almost seemed like an impossible theme. I was thrilled when I found this serving plate in a thrift store near New Orleans. I paid a dollar for it and turns out it is a piece of nice china. It's campy enough for me to use as a serving plate. Theme #184 Millennium.
