I have been so busy taking pictures this spring that I have some images that I really like and I have not posted them yet. This photo was taken at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. A willet strolls along the beach looking for breakfast from the sea. Theme #112.

Talk about camouflage. The colors of nature are definitely the best. This small Willet is looking for breakfast while the ocean crashes and swirls around him. Theme # 187 Monotone.

It was a cool morning at St. Marks NWR, but it turned into a sunny day. The warm sun brought out the more sinister wildlife. Sorry, no close-ups. Theme # 74 Dangerous.

St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1931 to provide wintering habitat for migratory birds. (Thank goodness!) This Ruddy Turnstone is a highly migratory bird that breeds in the Artic north and migrates to numerous southern destinations. They find food by foraging along the beach and turning over rocks. If you will look closely at his beak, you will see that he has been hunting for breakfast. Humans need to realize that what we do in our own little area of the world doesn’t just affect one area, it affects the delicate eco-system of this whole planet upon which we live.

Lighthouses have been used as warnings of rough shoals and other dangers as long as people have been sailing. St. Marks Lighthouse in Florida was built in 1832 and is still in use today. Theme #351 Warnings.

While I am on the subject, this is a small part of the rest of the trucks. It is said that Mr. Harvey is always surprised when people stop to take pictures of his collection. This is theme # 266 Rusted.

This is one of a spectacular collection of old Ford trucks in a field near Crawfordville, Florida. They range from the 1900's to the 1970's and they are placed in chronological order. They all belonged at one time to the family of Pat Harvey and they were used on the family farm. Theme #24 Bent.
